Talent . . . talent . . . talent. It all comes down to talent. Individually, Spare Time’s founders have worked with some of the most successful musical talents for decades. The recently created Spare Time Records has worked with, and continues to work with, young talent, raw talent, seasoned talent, and the greats of the music industry. We love to work with artists, writers, and musicians who inspire us to new levels of excellence in recording. And through the wonders of digital technology and the demands of the Covid-19 Era, we have brought together great folks in our recordings who have never met. Excellence can be fun!

We carry that commitment to excellence through mastering and manufacturing. We can’t wait for the disruptions caused by the pandemic to allow us to return to releasing all our titles on the highest quality vinyl LPs. Vinyl — it gets in the blood.

A few months ago, we were talking about recent news in the music industry, awards shows, stories in Billboard, and the lives of the rich and famous in our industry when one of the partners opined, “We’re not in the same music business that they are in.” It’s true — to our great relief.  

When we set up Spare Time, we did not have a plan or a budget. There was no press release. We are not interested in trends or formulas. We all gave up hanging with the cool kids a long time ago. And yet, we have met and worked with some very cool folks along the way since 2017.

We do have some rules (or guidelines) that we have followed from day one. Serve the song. Then serve the singer. Don’t try to please everyone. Don’t work with anyone who is harder to deal with than Kirk. That’s Spare Time. Don’t have any? Get some.
